Cardinal Seàn Confirms 100 Brazilians at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross

On Pentecost Sunday, May 24th, 2015 at 2:00pm, Cardinal Seàn O’Malley confirmed 100 Brazilian youth and adults at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Present and confirmed were members from 10 of the 16 Brazilian communities  St. (Anthony in Allston, St. Anthony in Everett, Holy Family in Lowell, St. Thomas in Peabody, Immaculate Conception in Marlboro, Holy Family in Rockland, St. Anthony in Somerville, Immaculate Conception in Stoughton, Madona Queen Shrine in East Boston and St. Charles in Woburn).

Cardinal Seàn was the main celebrant, and the sacrament was conducted fully in Portuguese. Along-side Cardinal O’Malley were concelebrants Father Michael Harrington, Director of the Office of Outreach and Cultural Diversity, Fr. Adriano Castro, Fr. Steven Clemens, Fr. Ademir Guerini, Fr. Armando Gama Gomez, Fr. Eduardo Marques and Fr. Miguel Gonçalves who serve some of the Brazilian Communities in the Archdiocese of Boston.

Music was provided by the Brazilian Community of Somerville at St. Anthony Parish, altar servers were from the Brazilian Community at Immaculate Conception in Stoughton, and the liturgy was ministered by the Catechists of all of the different parish communities. Along with the 100 candidates were present family members and sponsors who took part in this beautiful sacrament. Following Mass, Cardinal Seàn took a picture with the group of candidates each individual community and a picture with all of the catechists. After being confirmed, the candidates were presented at their parishes in their towns the following weekend so that the whole parish community could see and witness to the fruits that their hard work and example have provided by seeing the youth whom now chosen to continue forward in their Catholic Faith.
