Every year, the Filipino community members gather for a wonderful day of faith and fellowship at their annual picnic. The 2015 picnic took place on Saturday, July 18th from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Pageant Field in Quincy, MA.

This yearly event is a gathering of the Filipino Apostolate of Boston’s three chapters composed of Malden, West Roxbury, and Quincy. The event started with Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Alex Castro, a Filipino priest of the Assumption Order based in Brighton. He is a co-chaplain of the Filipino Apostolate with Fr. Cyriac Mattathilanickal of LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro.

The Malden’s Choir provided the liturgical songs. The Eucharistic celebration is followed by games for all ages. It was a fun and friendly competition of basketball, volleyball, softball, sack race, badminton and hula hoop.

While the picnic is a potluck event, there was plenty of barbecue to serve until the last player has eaten at dinner time. It was a time to know and bond with parishioners of other chapters, share food, laughter and have a relaxing day with the Lord.
