“Haciendo Lio” Hispanic Community Waltham – July 2014

“I would like us to make noise, I would like those inside the Dioceses to go out into the open; I want the Church to be in the streets…”Pope Francis (WYD 2014)

Answering to Pope Francis’ request, the youth group AGAPE of St. Mary’s Parish in Waltham, MA literally brought the Church out into the open and made a lot of noise. This weekend -long event started on Friday night (July 25th) with a vigil; during the day on Saturday there was a soccer tournament between the Hispanic communities of St. Mary- Waltham, St. Stephen- Framingham, St. Benedict- Somerville, Most Holy Redeemer- East Boston, St. Rose of Lima – Chelsea, Immaculate Conception – Everett and St. Columbkille- Brighton and at night the communities gathered to watch the movie God is Not Dead. To wrap up this eventful weekend, these communities gathered on Sunday afternoon, July 27th, despite the heavy rain and made a lot of noise outside of St. Mary’s Parish.

“Haciendo lio”, making noise, was their goal that afternoon; and this crowd sure enough made noise. Together, faithful of all ages praised the Lord loud and clear with worship songs. They sang, danced, and clapped for Jesus!
